June will be a busy month for the Donaldson Run Civic Association as we have two meetings planned instead of our normal one meeting. The first meeting on June 16 will feature what we have come to know as the’ Bob and Mary Margaret’ show. Virginia Delegate Bob Brink and Virginia Senator Mary Margaret Whipple will be on hand to give us a summary of the latest legislative news from Richmond. They will also take our questions on such topics as the Donaldson Run Stream Restoration of Tributary B, Route 66 construction inside the Beltway and taxes. Also on June 16th, we will have representatives from Marymount University give us an update on their dorm/classroom/parking construction project and also  an update on their on-going Master Planning process for the main campus. This meeting will take place in the multipurpose room at Taylor Elementary School with a social half hour beginning at 7 pm followed by the program at 7:30.

Then the following week, we will have a special Donaldson Run Tributary B Stream Restoration meeting. That meeting will take place at Washington-Lee High School starting at 7 pm in the cafeteria. The preliminary agenda is published elsewhere in the newsletter and will be available on the web site (www.drca.org). I will also send email reminders to those of you on our email list. This meeting will have multiple purposes -- to educate interested residents on some of the science behind the stream restoration design as well as to review the 60% project design documents. Construction is still a long way off and this meeting should be informative and educational.

After the June meetings, we normally take the Summer off, and the next meeting will take place sometime in September. A newsletter and reminder emails will announce the Fall meeting schedules.

And finally, congratulations to the Executive Committee members who were all reelected at the last meeting. We all owe volunteers Anne, Mike, Maxine, Arleen, Larry, Greg and Bill our thanks for the many hours that they spend planning and attending meetings on our behalf. And I would also like to thank Mary for her work putting together the newsletter that you are holding in your hand. This is an important piece of communications that we send to every household in the neighborhood, and it is our primary means of communicating DRCA projects and information to you.

I look forward to seeing you at our June meetings. There should be something for everyone.
